La Meuse près de Dordrecht

L'histoire
Boudin came to the Netherlands in 1884 and painted the Maas at Dordrecht, the wide reach of water Dutch painters had been setting up in front of since the 17th century. Johan Barthold Jongkind, the Dutch painter he had met at Trouville in 1862 and kept as a friend, had worked the same river. Dordrecht's own museum did not own the picture until 2012, when it came up at auction in New York and the museum's circle of business friends put up the money. It hangs there now near Jan van Goyen's view of Dordrecht and Jongkind's sailing ships on the same water.
