이야기
Lorenzo Lotto signed and dated this on a rock at the foot of John the Baptist, L. Lotus, 1522, but for a long time nobody could be sure of the last figure, because the panel had cracked right through it. Only a restoration in 2011 recovered the 2. Lotto painted it during his productive years around Bergamo, for a lay brotherhood devoted to the body of Christ in the small hill town of Ponteranica, and it still hangs in the parish church there, where it was meant to go. Six panels stack in two rows, the risen Christ and an Annunciation above, John the Baptist between Saints Peter and Paul below. Christ carries no heavy cross, only a thin shaft of light above his head.
