Camille na praia de Trouville
Ficha técnica
A história
Monet married Camille Doncieux on 28 June 1870 and took her and their three-year-old son to Trouville for the summer. Three weeks later France declared war on Prussia. The season at the Channel resort went ahead anyway, and Monet kept working on the sand, close in, Camille under her hat with a second woman beside her, both of them cut off by the edge of the canvas the way a photograph cuts things off. By the autumn he had crossed to England to sit out the war and the Commune that followed it, and Camille and the boy went with him. He did not find a buyer for this one until 1874 or 1875, when a Paris dealer named Martin took it, in the years after the family came home with no money at all.
