이야기
The cardinal in this portrait died in 1507, and the picture was painted in the 1540s, most likely during the months Titian spent in Rome in 1545 and 1546. So it is a posthumous likeness, made from older images and probably ordered by the family, who wanted their man kept in the room. The Pushkin Museum notes that Titian laid it over an existing image on the same canvas. The name attached to it comes from Anthony van Dyck, who owned the painting in the 1620s and wrote Titian beside a drawing he made after it. Scholars in the early 20th century moved it to Sebastiano del Piombo before it came back to Titian. Catherine the Great bought it for the Hermitage in 1772 with the Crozat collection from Paris, and Moscow has had it since 1928.
