The story
In the later 6th century BC, marble youths of this kind were being carved all over the Greek world, from the Cycladic islands of the Aegean to the Greek cities on the coast of Asia Minor, and each region's workshops had their own manner. Where this small one was made is uncertain. A Cycladic island or East Greece has been suggested, though only tentatively.
The Glyptothek bought the figure in 1987, more than 150 years after the museum first opened its doors in 1830, and it now stands in the room of the early Greek youths.
