이야기
In 1906 Munch was mostly in Germany, taking theatre work. Max Reinhardt had asked him for designs for a Berlin staging of Ibsen's Ghosts, a play set in one room a family cannot get out of, and Munch spent that year thinking in interiors. He painted Murder in the same stretch of months as the first of his Death of Marat canvases, the subject he kept returning to after a quarrel with his former partner Tulla Larsen in 1902 that ended with a revolver going off and the tip of his finger shot away. Here the killing is already over. The room holds a table, a standing woman and a man lying on the bed. The Munch Museum keeps it beside The Murderess, painted the same year, and two versions of the Marat picture.
