이야기
1904 was the year Munch's German market opened. He was taken into the Berlin Secession, dealers in Berlin and Hamburg took on his prints and his paintings, and a Luebeck eye doctor named Max Linde commissioned a frieze for his children's nursery, then refused the finished panels as unsuitable for children. The orchard pictures run alongside all of that. Munch had bought a small house at Aasgaardstrand on the Oslofjord in 1898, with fruit trees around it, and figures standing under apple trees kept coming back in his work for years after. The Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, which lists the canvas as Girl Under Apple Tree, was given it in 1965.
