이야기
Raphael signed and dated this small panel in 1507, during the four years he spent in Florence in his twenties, watching what Leonardo and Michelangelo were doing and quietly taking it in. It is tiny, not much bigger than a sheet of paper, and it leans directly on Leonardo. The whole group is built as a gentle pyramid, the Christ child climbing onto a lamb, the Virgin bending to steady him, Joseph resting on his staff behind. The lamb is the point. It stands for the sacrifice to come, so the child reaching for it turns a quiet family moment into a hint of the Passion. Raphael was still a young provincial from Urbino here, a few years before the popes called him to Rome and the huge frescoes that made his name.
